The last few playlists in Torch the Mall's existence.

I find it hard to believe that anyone still comes to this page, but just in case, I should put up the playlists of my last few shows that I ever had at WNHU. I really should have taken care of this 11 months ago, especially considering how awkward it is to navigate WNHU's website, but I found what I needed! The only real bumout for me at the end of my tenure there was the edition of a gospel show immediately after mine. Throughout most of my time at WNHU, I didn't have anyone to follow up after my show, so if I wished to stay an extra hour or hour-and-a-half, then I could. I didn't make the most of that my senior year so when I finally hoped to stick around one night and make up for my short shows earlier in the semester, I suddenly had someone who needed to get on the air. None of this is against him.

I should add in the note that my last show ever was a dedication to music from New Jersey. Unfortunately, I didn't have everything I needed (i.e.,RORSCHACH) but it still turned out well with a fair amount of music from both New Jersey's past and present. I just wish I could have had more than two hours.

You'll notice that this is a different layout than I used to post. This is directly pasted from the website and because of this, I don't have the albums listed. Additionally, if I played multiple songs by a band in one show, they are all listed in the same line rather than separate lines. I'll try to return later on to fix this. Also, any gaps between weeks were covered by Tobey!

Playlist for 2/14/09 (Second week of Phone-a-Thon)

Phone-a-Thon is finally over. I really don't care besides the fact that I have less mic breaks again! My first two sets (really my first set on a regular show and without the premature mic break) were all "proto-grindcore" (for a lack of better term) hardcore bands. It isn't definitive since I forgot a few bands (i.e., Adrenalin O.D.), some songs were right from when grindcore appeared (i.e., Satanic Malfunctions, Septic Death), and I just did not want to play some of the qualifying bands that I do not like. Either way, I just wanted to play some really, really fast hardcore that predates grindcore, and I ABSOLUTELY hesistate to jump and say that any of these bands were the first grind bands (with the exceptions of Brigada di Odio and maybe Cyanamid, who are pretty damn close!). This was all a response to Decibel recently ranking Siege's Drop Dead at #4 of the best grind albums of all time, ignoring the fact that there aren't any blast beats! That list is dreadful overall anyway.

I'm graduating in May and I am hoping to continue my education through graduate school, but do not know whether or not I have been accepted or where I would be going. This show was easily the shortest of the semester: I started about fifteen minutes late and I only had two sets: one grind set and one that contrasted that. This was due to the fact that twenty-odd cavemen were back in my apartment and I had to return to make sure that nothing was going wrong. Additionally, I originally prepared my show so that I had a third set on my computer, but I left my power adapter as well as most of my CDs behind, so I had to hold off on that. My apologies. I won't be on the air next week but Joe will fill in for me. I only have two shows left for the semester! Madness!
