Playlist for 2/14/09 (Second week of Phone-a-Thon)

Phone-a-Thon is finally over. I really don't care besides the fact that I have less mic breaks again! My first two sets (really my first set on a regular show and without the premature mic break) were all "proto-grindcore" (for a lack of better term) hardcore bands. It isn't definitive since I forgot a few bands (i.e., Adrenalin O.D.), some songs were right from when grindcore appeared (i.e., Satanic Malfunctions, Septic Death), and I just did not want to play some of the qualifying bands that I do not like. Either way, I just wanted to play some really, really fast hardcore that predates grindcore, and I ABSOLUTELY hesistate to jump and say that any of these bands were the first grind bands (with the exceptions of Brigada di Odio and maybe Cyanamid, who are pretty damn close!). This was all a response to Decibel recently ranking Siege's Drop Dead at #4 of the best grind albums of all time, ignoring the fact that there aren't any blast beats! That list is dreadful overall anyway.


I will have to update this playlist when I get the D.F.E. and C3L song titles in mind.
